Ebola spread stabilizing in Guinea as toll nears 3,000: WHO
GENEVA/FREETOWN (Reuters) - The spread of Ebola seems to have stabilized in Guinea, one of three West African states worst-hit by the disease, but a lack of beds and resistance in affected communities means its advance continues elsewhere, the World Health Organization said.
Doctor calls for blood donations to treat Liberian Ebola victims
MONROVIA (Reuters) - The head of a treatment center in Liberia, the country worst-hit by West Africa's deadly Ebola outbreak, has urged survivors of the disease to donate their blood for use in treating infected patients.

German Alzheimer's drug developer Probiodrug plans Amsterdam IPO
FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Germany's Probiodrug AG, a developer of treatments for Alzheimer's disease plans to list its shares in Amsterdam via an initial public offer (IPO), it said on Thursday, adding to the growing number of European biotech firms looking to share markets to raise new funds.
Sierra Leone quarantines three more districts in fight against Ebola
FREETOWN (Reuters) - Sierra Leone has put three more districts under indefinite quarantine in a bid to fight Ebola, President Ernest Bai Koroma said in a statement, which means five of the country's 14 districts have now been isolated.
Novartis reports positive trials for arthritis drug
FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Swiss drugmaker Novartis said two late-stage trials showed its drug secukinumab improved symptoms of psoriatic arthritis, a type of arthritis associated with the skin disease psoriasis that causes joint pain, stiffness and swelling.
Nicox gets boost from strong prospects for glaucoma drug
PARIS (Reuters) - French pharmaceutical firm Nicox unveiled positive Phase III results for its glaucoma drug on Thursday and said, if approved by regulators, the product could reach peak annual sales of over $1 billion worldwide.
